Schades Group, 13 October 2026

  • Omeko Papier is one of Eastern Europe’s biggest and most competitive producers of cash register rolls.
  • Its established expertise in roll production is now complemented by a growing focus on logistics labels, reflecting the changing requirements of the markets it serves.
  • From a locksmith’s shop to a major producer of cash register rolls and labels, Omeko Papier’s story is one of continual evolution and investment.

Founded by Jan Dworzański in 1981, the Polish company has developed its capabilities significantly over more than four decades, expanding from locksmith services and specialist production into non-ferrous metals, paper products, printing and, today, high-volume roll and label production.

Since 2022, Omeko Papier has been part of Schades Group, bringing its manufacturing expertise and established market presence into a wider international network. In this blog, we explore the history of Omeko Papier, the site’s printing expertise, and its growth into the biggest and most competitive producer of cash register rolls in Eastern Europe under Schades Group.

    From locksmithing to paper production

Omeko Papier first started in 1981 as a locksmith’s shop, providing locksmith services alongside specialist production.

In 1990, the company expanded into the purchase, processing and sale of non-ferrous metals. As the business grew, owner Jan Dworzański recognised the need for premises that could support its expanding operations and meet the requirements associated with the industry.

A significant milestone came in 1994, when Omeko Papier acquired a 1.83-hectare property. The site provided the warehouse, production, administrative and welfare facilities needed to support further growth, alongside new equipment including scrap balers, forklifts and transport vehicles.

By 1995, Omeko Papier had expanded into the production of paper and hygiene products, including computer paper, cash register rolls, fax paper, commercial forms, towels and industrial wipes.

    Developing printing expertise

Omeko Papier’s capabilities continued to evolve through investment in new technology and machinery.

The purchase of a high-end printing machine in 1999 marked the beginning of the company’s printing operations. Six-colour printing, custom-sized rolls and printed cash and ATM rolls were among the new products introduced, with the range continuing to expand into products including labels, tickets, forms, brochures and other commercial print.

In 2004, Omeko introduced Computer-to-Plate (CtP) technology based on Heidelberg solutions, improving the accuracy and precision of print reproduction. At the same time, a printhead system enabled the production of variable data, including barcodes, numbering, counters and names.

Further investment followed across printing, converting, roll production, packaging and finishing equipment, alongside the construction of new production and warehouse facilities, allowing Omeko Papier to scale up its operations for customers across Poland.

A new chapter with Schades Group

In March 2022, Harbour Investment, the owner of Schades Group, acquired Omeko Papier, bringing the company into the Group.

Today, Omeko Papier is the biggest and most competitive producer of cash register rolls in Eastern Europe. The company supplies around 90% of retailers in Poland, as well as major logistics and e-commerce providers.

Its established expertise in roll production is now complemented by a growing focus on logistics labels, reflecting the changing requirements of the markets it serves.

Investment in technology remains central to Omeko Papier’s development. The site is focused on automation, including the deployment of robotics across its machinery, supporting greater efficiency across its manufacturing operations.

It has also continued to invest in its people, machinery and facilities, supported by experience in managing EU funding and certifications including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and FSC.

    Looking to the future

For Managing Director Pawel, the next stage of Omeko’s development is focused on strengthening its position in logistics labels and investing in highly efficient converting equipment.

“My goal as MD is to convert Omeko into the biggest producer of logistics labels, with very efficient label converting equipment in Central and Eastern Europe.”

With more than 40 years of development behind it, Omeko continues to evolve – combining its long manufacturing history with investment in automation, technology and new production capabilities as part of Schades Group.
